    Position Overview

    This is a regional role, covering RGA's Asia markets, with primary purpose to support Regional Head of Claims with partnering with the local claims offices to maintain a consistent standard in claims strategy, governance and best practices. You will need a strong focus on improving standards of assessment, decision-making and service within claims, whilst retaining the mindset of a business owner. You will have a willingness to take responsibility and make decisions in a fast paced and diverse environment.

    Responsibilities

  • Ensure that claims management in local offices in Asia is consistent with agreed RGA philosophy and requirements
  • Support for local offices as required in claim assessment, claim approval above local authority levels and Client Quality Audits
  • Participate in Technical Reviews of claims function in RGA local offices
  • Partner with RGA local offices and with wider RGA regional team to identify and support delivery of value add services
  • Undertake research and generate thought leadership articles relevant to claims that can be shared across RGA local offices and with RGA clients
  • Support Regional Head of Claims with oversight on the Digital Claims Program and other Regional or Global claims initiatives as required
  • Requirements

    Education and Experience

    Required:
  • Proven in-depth knowledge of multiple life and health products
  • Experience of assessment and decision making in life and health claims with evidence of claim authority levels being held
  • Medical knowledge/training either in practice or through previous roles
  • Ability to coach and support non-direct reports with developing their claims skills and knowledge
  • Experience in undertaking review/audit activities within claims including preparation of reports and management of actions/outcomes
  • Ability to effectively communicate to local offices via digital solutions as well as in person
  • Preferred:

  • Experience in presenting at internal and external educational seminars
  • Degree education
  • Have undertaken process reviews, identified opportunities for improvement and supported implementation of best practice
  • Ability to read and speak Cantonese or Mandarin (strong preference)
  • Skills and Abilities

    Required:

  • Strong technical skills in claims assessment across multiple life and health product lines
  • Ability to clearly explain both verbally and in writing the reasons for their decisions
  • Focus on customer service, with track record in supporting Business Development/Sales with maintaining great customer relationships
  • Excellent negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to proactively influence others, and an ability to adapt communication style as needed for the situation
  • Self-motivated with ability and willingness to take ownership of any tasks that have potential to improve the RGA claims capability
  • Highly organized and able to demonstrate the capability to manage multiple ongoing work tasks
  • Willingness to travel to local offices with Asia region as required by the business
  • Active participation in the wider Regional UCM function, bringing a value-add mindset that is consistently focused on how we support a OneRGA culture
  • Action orientated with a focus on delivery of results
  • An innovation mindset with ability to challenge the current norms, willingness to test and learn and ability to take a fail fast approach
  • Ability to analyse data, identify trends and be able to question/challenge the information to drive further review
  • High levels of resilience, able to cope with challenges and willingness to learn and adapt from setbacks

  • With lesser experience required by the role, the successful candidate may be recruited at a different internal grade, with training provided to develop the candidate for the next progression.
