    Job Introduction

    BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services. It reaches a weekly global audience of 320 million through various platforms, including traditional television and radio, digital radio, podcasts, and social media.

    The BBC Chinese Service, based in Hong Kong and Taipei, focuses on creating high-quality digital content for the Chinese-speaking audience. They are currently seeking a skilled Social Media Editor to join their Hong Kong team.

    The ideal candidate will have experience in curating Chinese language content for social media and a talent for identifying compelling stories. Proficiency in English is preferred.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Oversee all social media content, digital projects, and videos for Chinese-speaking audiences across various regions.
    • Ensure compliance with BBC standards and editorial guidelines while fostering creativity in storytelling for social media.
    • Collaborate with other BBC departments and lead social media strategy for BBC Chinese.
    • Provide guidance to journalists and contribute to international and regional stories coverage.
    • Optimize BBC's presence on social platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.
    • Offer creative leadership to enhance BBC Chinese's impact on social media.

    Are you the right candidate?

    • Demonstrated experience in leading digital teams, preferably in Chinese.
    • Proven track record in online production and social media engagement.
    • Deep understanding of social media trends and China affairs.
    • Ability to create engaging content tailored to the audience.
    • Proficient in producing high-quality textual and video content.
    • Analytical skills to interpret data for news purposes and drive traffic.
    • Strong editorial judgment and time management abilities.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of English and journalism principles.
    • Sound understanding of online technology for platform optimization.
    • Skills to motivate editorial teams and foster innovation.
