- This position is required by the Legal Department of Sun Life Hong Kong Limited ("SLHK") to support the General Counsel and the legal team in providing legal support and advice to the business personnel across SLHK. The suitable candidate will hold the position of Legal Counsel and report to the Associate General Counsel, Distribution on legal cases and projects, handle administrative matters with respect to the Legal Department. The works to be assigned to the Legal Counsel would include drafting and reviewing legal and business documents and to attend meetings to address the business needs. The Legal Counsel will be required to work independently.
- support the Life & Health insurance business, Distribution channels (agency and brokers) and Special Projects
- possess the ability to draft, review and provide comments on English and Chinese contracts, business documents and marketing materials relating to the insurance business of SLHK
- prepare principal-agency relationship contracts including remuneration packages for the Distribution channels
- conduct legal research and follow up on legal tasks and litigation cases relating to the Distribution channels (including providing update reports)
- attend to regulatory matters and assist your supervising Counsel in drafting strategic responses for submission to regulators
- assist other Counsel in senior positions in taking instructions from the business and liaise with external lawyers
- attend to Special Projects (these may include M&A projects and strategic projects of SLHK) and provide legal support to those projects
- liaise with other Counsel at our regional office in Hong Kong
- provide administrative support to the Legal Department such as reviewing external lawyer's legal bills and uploading them unto the system
- In-house experience in the insurance industry preferred (candidates with life insurance experiences from private practice which are relevant to the role will also be considered)
- Proficient in both the English language and the Chinese language
- LLB degree and PCLL certificate holder
- Minimum 4 - 5 years' post qualification experience
