Job Posting DetailsThe Division of Humanities of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor in Anthropology.
The position is for a cultural anthropologist with a background in health and/or medical issues.While the geographical area is open, it should complement the regional strengths of the Division of Humanities and the University.
The position will strengthen the new emphasis of Anthropology in the Division on cultural anthropology at the intersection of health and medicine.
Applicants should either have or will receive a PhD degree in Anthropology by August 2024 from a reputable university.The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching and show promise for publications with international impact.
Prior publications in cultural anthropology in areas relating to health and medicine, especially in leading journals, will be highly valued.

In addition to a master's degree program in Chinese Culture and research postgraduate degree programs at master's and doctoral levels, the Division of Humanities offers general education courses for all undergraduates at HKUST.
Together with the Division of Social Science, the Division of Humanities offers a multidisciplinary undergraduate major program of BSc in Global China Studies.
Further information about the Division can be found at .Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. Housing benefits will also be provided where applicable. Initial appointment will normally be on a three-year contract, renewable subject to mutual agreement. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
