- Overall responsibility for coordinating peer review, commissioning content, and ensuring the timely production of a specified number of articles per year, including Comments and Letters.
- Establishing and nurturing relationships with the international medical research community, staying abreast of current literature to identify suitable material and authors for the journal.
- Attending conferences, relevant meetings, laboratory visits, and institute visits to stay up to date with developments across all specialties to promote the journal.
- Editing content from all sections of the journal to enhance clarity and adhere to journal style.
- Proposing and contributing to new initiatives for the journal's advancement.
- Fulfilling other duties as required, such as covering for team members during absences.
- Ability to collaborate within a team and meet strict deadlines
- Negotiation skills with medical professionals, the media, and other editors
- Proficiency in biological and medical sciences
- Excellent written communication skills
- Familiarity with IT systems
- PhD or MD in a directly relevant field is essential. Previous editorial experience is advantageous.

About the Role
The Lancet Regional Health – Western Pacific is seeking a dedicated full-time Senior Editor to join the editorial team in-house. Collaborating closely with the Editor-in-Chief, you will play a vital role in the development of this new online-only gold open access title as part of The Lancet's global initiative for regional health. Your main responsibilities will include overseeing submissions, ensuring high-quality peer review, and managing the publication of impactful research in the Western Pacific region.
