Description
The Gerald Choa Neuroscience Institute (GCNI) is a newly established, university-level research institute at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Honouring the first Dean of CUHK's Medical School, Prof. Gerald Choa, the GCNI will consolidate and expand the neuroscience community, creating an internationally competitive research environment. The Institute welcomes individuals who are highly devoted to innovative neuroscience research and who value the opportunity to work in close collaboration with a talented and growing neuroscience community to apply for the post of full-time Research Associate / Research Assistant.
Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's (for Research Assistant) or a Master's (for Research Associate) degree or above in a biological discipline which includes some experience with techniques used in neuroscience research; (ii) at least four years' post-qualification relevant work experience (for Research Associate); (iii) excellent communication, organisational and teamwork skills; (iv) experience in coordinating research projects and preparing reports; and (v) proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese.
Applicants with a strong neuroscience background are especially sought for Research Associate positions. Applicants with less experience, or less relevant experience, will be considered for available Research Assistant positions.
Duties include (a) providing research support such as making physiological solutions, measuring pH or osmolality, assisting with experimental protocols, etc. (after appropriate instruction and/or experience); (b) providing assistance in compiling and analysing experimental data; (c) ordering reagents and maintaining equipment; (d) managing the laboratory's budget accounts (often in conjunction with clerical personnel); (e) providing assistance in preparing project reports and other relevant research documents, and (f) performing other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or his delegate(s).
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for two years, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
