The appointee will be required to (a) undertake teaching duties at various levels; (b) supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and theses; (c) conduct research in related areas and contribute to the development of the Department's research strength; (d) initiate, lead and participate in scholarly research in his/her area of expertise and be active in research leading to quality journal publications and in bidding for external research grants and applied research projects; (e) engage in programme / curriculum planning, administration and development; (f) provide leadership in developing a programme, a subject discipline or a research programme, etc.; and (g) undertake relevant administrative duties.
Applicants should (a) have a doctoral degree in an appropriate related discipline; (b) have strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research; (c) demonstrate effective classroom teaching skills and have good interpersonal skills; (d) have an excellent command of English; (e) have an excellent record of research and scholarship commensurate with their experience; and (f) demonstrate good potential in bidding for research grants as well as in establishing significant externally funded research programmes.
Applicants should demonstrate strong potential to be internationally prominent through excellent research and teaching. They will be expected to contribute to the development and delivery of degree programmes; teach in engineering design relevant to their technical specialisation; and should have been involved in major research projects relevant to their discipline.
Preference will be given to those applicants with a demonstrated track record and expertise in Electrical Services (Electrical and Electronic Engineering with applications in or related to buildings).
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment for Assistant Professor will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. An appropriate term will be provided for appointment at Associate Professor level.
