Jun Ao Jorge Lu

I am a freshman student currently studying Public Policy & Global Affairs at Nanyang Technological University Singapore. Since high school, I developed a strong interest in being involved in community and school club events. I participated in a campaign led by a district councillor in Hong Kong to raise awareness towards the sales of alcohol and tobacco to minors which was brought up at the city’s legislative council - new regulations were introduced shaped my interest in policies.

As a freshman Public Policy student, I have gained knowledge of the fundamentals of the government structure, bureaucratic system, public policy administration as well as foreign policies. S

As a freshman Public Policy student, I developed public speaking skills, presentation skills as well as writing skills in order to become a respectable public speaker. Through gaining knowledge of the fundamentals of governmental structures, bureaucratic systems, public policy administration as well as foreign policies; I have understood the similarities between a family and a nation, whereby an individual takes on the role of the “head of state” or “head of a family” to lead individuals under their charge to enjoy a greater level of happiness. The Social Contract, for example, is when an individual sacrifices their liberty in exchange for safety and protection.
