    Job Posting Details

The rise of online and mixed-mode teaching enables the delivery of educational materials to wider population where it is no longer restricted to physical classroom. This raises new challenges in engineering education, where significant components of learning are "hands-on," e.g. in laboratories. Current platforms for online learning, e.g. Zoom, are not able to adequately address the challenges.

The Department of Electronic & Computer Engineering (ECE) at HKUST is seeking Instructional Assistants to develop technology and materials supporting online and mixed-mode teaching; undergraduate student projects; undergraduate courses for non-ECE major students, and new bridging courses.

    Position (1)

The appointee will assist in the development of course materials to support mixed-mode teaching. Major duties include the development of materials enabling the online delivery of engineering course content, including online laboratories, as well as the development of materials enabling students to perform experiments at home, and make good use of new teaching methodology/technology. As part of the role in developing course materials, the appointee may also assist in collecting course feedback and further developing the materials based on the feedback.

    Position (2)

The appointee will assist in the development of hands-on laboratory training modules and materials to equip UG students for final-year/capstone projects. As part of the role in developing course materials, the appointee may also assist in collecting course feedback and further developing the materials based on the feedback.

    Position (3)

The appointee will assist in the development of updated course materials and teaching methodologies to enhance the Department's flagship UG common-core courses offered to non-ECE majors (around students from Business and Science Schools and other non-ECE Engineering Departments) to introduce the latest ECE technologies in laymen terms and from young people's perspectives.

    Position (4)

The appointee will assist in the development of new bridging course materials and teaching methodologies for online or mixed-mode teaching of basic programming skills using Matlab.

Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in electronic/computer/electrical engineering; expertise in digital circuit design and embedded system development; and knowledge in basic electronics, signals and systems, and communication systems. Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills; and a good command of spoken and written English are required. Fresh graduates will also be considered. (Duration: 1 year)

Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided where applicable.

Revew of applications will begin on Thursday, 21 April 2022 and continue until the positions are filled.

(Information provided by applicants will be used for recruitment and other employment-related purposes only.)
