    Renaissance College is looking for a Head of Primary Learning Enhancement Team (TLR 2) to start in August 2024. The position will be a full-time two-year contract, renewable by mutual consent. See ESF Terms and Condition for further details of the package.

    The Head of Primary Learning Enhancement Team (LET) will assume responsibilities to lead and manage strategic and day-to-day practices in relation to student learning diversity (formerly understood as Special Educational Needs [SEN]) and English as an Additional Language (EAL) in the Primary School. The Head of Primary LET will facilitate professional development for school staff to ensure effective learning diversity support.

    Strategic Support

    Key responsibilities include:

  • Researching, modelling, and promoting inclusive practices for learning diversity and EAL
  • Ensuring staff has access to relevant professional development to continuously develop inclusive practices for all students
  • Collecting and analysing reliable data to support students' learning individually and collectively
  • Collaborating with the Secondary Head of LET to develop and ensure the best and consistent inclusive practices across the CollegeDay-To-Day Responsibilities

    Policy

  • Ensure that both strategic and day-to-day practices adhere to policy guidelines
  • Ensure practices align and develop in accordance with the College's strategic plan Communication
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with all relevant stakeholders
  • Keeping records of important meetings and communicating with students, teachers, parents, school leadership, and external professionals as needed.
  • Share and discuss diagnostic and intervention data with all relevant stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Formatively inform parents of learning enhancement and EAL students regarding learning and development Administration & Management
  • Maintain effective learning records for students receiving learning enhancement including EAL support
  • Ensure individualized education plans (IEPs) are maintained and accessible where necessary and appropriate
  • Participate in the recruitment of primary LET teachers and educational assistants (EAs)
  • Review and deploy primary LET staffing structures
  • Manage and coordinate the budget and resources for primary LET support
  • Attend ESF Learning Diversity and EAL meetings
  • Participate in the RCHK admissions processes Learning and Teaching
  • Directly support students receiving learning enhancement including EAL support in a designated year level
  • Co-teach where appropriate in a designated year level
  • Lead the development and implementation of inclusive learning diversity (including EAL) practices
  • Support teachers in developing IEPs
  • Lead primary LET meetings
  • Keep abreast of and share leading learning diversity (including EAL) practices and resources
  • Identify and coordinate professional learning for staff and parents Additionally, the Head of Primary LET may be requested to carry out duties that the Head of Primary (HoP) or College Principal deem reasonable and necessary. Line Management

    The Head of Primary LET will report directly to the Head of Primary (HoP).

    The Head of Primary LET is expected to have the following skills, capabilities and experience:

  • Planning, collaboration, and team-building processes
  • Research-based assessment practices for, as, and of learning
  • Diagnostic and learning resources that support and enhance learning diversity
  • The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is preferred Experience
  • Previous leadership experience preferred
  • Teaching the IBPYP preferred
  • As a primary practitioner preferred
  • Previous Learning Enhancement and/or EAL experience is essentialRequirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, or a Bachelor's Degree in any subjects with PGCE, or equivalent
