    DIVISIONAL OVERVIEW
    Global Investment Research (GIR) provides investment recommendations by generating fundamental research and analysis of companies, industries, markets and economies. Our clients include asset managers, hedge funds, mutual funds, pension funds, and major non-financial corporations, among others. The Macro Research team focuses on the intersection between economics and financial markets across a wide class of assets including equities, fixed income/credit, currencies, and commodities.
    JOB DESCRIPTION
    We are seeking an analyst to join the Asia Economics team in Hong Kong. Working closely with the senior economists and other members of the APAC Economics team, the analyst will:
    • Analyze and interpret high-frequency economic data releases; monitor and report on relevant macroeconomic indicators, market trends and events
    • Develop and maintain the team's forecasting models and other proprietary economic indicators
    • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, economic and monetary policy developments and regulatory changes in the region
    • Collaborate with the economists on the team on research projects and publications
    • Publish occasional research pieces of their own
    • Work with colleagues in sales and trading and investment banking as well as external clients to answer questions and explain the team's views
    QUALIFICATIONS
    • 1-2 years of prior work experience in research-related roles; strong interest in macroeconomics and monetary policy
    • Bachelor's or Master degree (preferred) in Economics or in related field (Statistics/ Math/ Computer Science)
    • Strong quantitative and analytical skills and understanding of statistical analysis, ideally with coursework in econometrics
    • Proficiency in statistical software and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python, eViews, etc)
    • Proficiency in the use of external databases including Bloomberg, Reuters, Haver, CEIC, WIND
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Mandarin
    • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills
    • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
