- Provide technical support in routine operation of the animal facility;
- Provide animal handling and surgery training mainly in rodent and rabbit, and surgical outcome monitoring;
- Provide training of research equipment including dissection microscope, fluorescent microscope, imaging device, micro-injector, anesthesia system, euthanasia system and manage the preventive maintenance programme of these equipment to ensure their functionality;
- Monitor all approved animal work in the facility to ensure good animal welfare, care and use practices;
- Provide safety training in animal-related experiment with specific use of chemical and drug, and carry out safety inspection and enforcement of chemical/drug safety regulations;
- Assist in management of occupational safety programme in the facility;
- Prepare the necessary document for AAALAC accreditation; and
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Director and his delegate.

Duties
Provide technical support to animal surgery, research equipment usage and maintenance, and safe operation of the laboratory. Major duties include to:
Shift duty and working on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays will be required.
Requirements
A PhD degree in Biological Sciences-related disciplines with at least 5 years' working experience in animal research using mouse diseased models. Good knowledge of international standards of animal care, post-surgical care, animal ethics, various animal surgery techniques and safety use of chemical in animal-related experiment is required. Knowledge of and experience with AAALAC accreditation system would be advantageous.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
