- Manage a small team of underwriters responsible for evaluating life insurance applications
- Oversee the underwriting process to ensure policies are issued in compliance with company guidelines and industry regulations
- Assist with the development and implementation of underwriting guidelines and procedures
- Review and approve or deny underwriting decisions made by team members
- Provide guidance and support to underwriters on complex cases, including research and analysis
- Collaborate with other departments, including actuarial, products, sales marketing, and claims team to ensure a smooth workflow and timely policy issuance
- Analyze underwriting data and provide feedback on team and individual performance
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in underwriting
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of underwriting experience in life insurance
- Experience managing a team of underwriters preferred
- Strong knowledge of underwriting principles and practices
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
- Knowledge of underwriting software and databases preferred
