    Job Responsibilities

    Strategy

    ·To uphold the integrity of the Group's risk/return decisions, and in particular for ensuring that credit risks arising from SME clients are properly assessed, that risk/return decisions are made transparently on the basis of proper assessment, and are controlled in accordance with the Group's standards and its Risk Appetite

    ·To ensure the Risk Management Framework and policies are effectively communicated and implemented across the Credit Risk Management SME Banking and for administering related governance and reporting processes

    Business

    ·Communicate the strategic intent and collective agenda for the Function

    ·Drive change in the underwriting and portfolio risk management in collaboration with other parts of the business, retail risk and group risk functions.

    ·Provide recommendations in quality analytical and logical approach with risk/return benefit for informed decision making.

    Processes

    ·Continuously improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of risk management processes

    ·Responsible for maintenance of the credit strategy management parameters, conduct assurance test and support implementation of regulations and internal policies/ standards.

    ·Design, maintain and ensure effective risk parameter in underwriting and transaction systems to support the initiatives, projects and in compliance of internal policies/ standards.

    ·Ensure compliance with local governance requirement and processes

    Risk Management

    ·Ensure full compliance with Group Credit Policies and Process Standards.Conduct review and support approval on a timely basis

    ·Design, maintain and effectively communicate risk control parameters across SME Banking including policies, control standards, risk exposure limits and other control levers in order to maintain the business's risk profile in line with the Group's risk appetite

    ·Assess the credit risk profile of the SME Banking and maintain alignment with risk appetite by rebalancing of risks or controls that may be required in response to internal and external factors - initiate, at least annually and with guidance from Group specialists, a stress test and scenario programme, review the results and assess their implications

    ·Ensure effective management of operational risks within the Function and compliance with applicable internal policies, and external laws and regulations.

    ·Continuously improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of risk management processes.

    ·Ensure compliance with local governance requirement and processes. To encourage the development of an appropriate risk culture and discipline.

    ·Direct appropriate response to material events or other risk issues that come to the role holder's attention

    ·Identify potential concern segment with remediation actions for Retail Clients Unsecured Lending to ensure that it's aligned to the agreed risk appetite, reflects the key risk characteristics of the portfolio, and enables effective controls. To recommend appropriate portfolio and collection actions for remediation.

    ·Implement the Scorecards, Models and Basel requirements as per internal standards. Review, maintain and resolve the data quality/ parameter issue of Scorecards, Models and Basel requirement. Analysis the impact to downstream impact with remediation actions.

    Lead with the support of Policy & Governance team and / or Analytic Hub to

  • Timely report of material risk events, breach of risk triggers, material shift in portfolio shape / threshold, and portfolio performance in portfolio review pack. Ensure that material risk exposures and related issues are reported to the responsible governance committees
  • Ensure risk identification, measurement and modelling capabilities are objective, consistent and compliant with applicable regulations
  • Initiate stress tests as required by internal and external factor / stakeholders, including local regulators and review results and assess their implications
  • Work with product team to

  • Ensure business and product heads understand and accept their credit risk management responsibilities
  • Uphold the integrity of risk/return decisions, by challenging business and control function heads to demonstrate that risk origination and control decisions are properly informed and consistent with strategy and risk appetite
  • Support acquisition and portfolio programs by effective managing program risks and profitability
  • Maintain a good understanding of the requirements of key external stakeholders in respect of credit risk management and ensure these are well understood internally and reflected in internal procedures
  • Maintain an open and cooperative relationship in dealings with regulators
  • Obtain assurance regarding the effectiveness of credit controls and compliance with applicable laws & local regulations
  • Loan Loss Forecasting & Delinquency / Loss Portfolio Management

    Collaborate with Group Team to

  • ensure that a proactive, dynamic and flexible loss forecasting model is maintained and to prepare periodic loan impairment forecast for the portfolio
  • closely monitor the delinquencyand loss levels of portfolios and recommend appropriate portfolio and collection actions
  • Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of SME Banking or Consumer Credit Management experience
  • Market Knowledge: Substantial experience in the banking industry, including demonstrated success in a similar role
  • Business Strategy and Model: Sharp business acumen (including ability to assess risk and appropriate levels of return), strong leadership qualities, sound interpersonal skills and multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Risk Management and Control: Demonstrated track record in successful management and ability to manage risk.Expertise in process design and control
  • Regulatory Framework and Requirements: Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the firm operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role
  • Non-technical Skills: Good relationship management experience with external stakeholders including regulators and rating agencies.
