This role leads the Asia Pacific Content and Communications team; you will provide strategic direction, counsel as well as hands on practical support for all relevant content and communications planning and execution relating to Christie’s brand, businesses, auctions and events. He or she would provide appropriate support to win new business, support and promote Christie’s sales and events programs working to enhance the leading brand’s reputation across all platforms in collaboration with the US and Europe counterparts as well as other Marketing functions within the region.
Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Guide the overall strategy of APAC content in charge by the social media, online editorial and video content teams, ensure their strategy is realistic and achievable that supports and extends marketing initiatives. The content strategy must reinforce the brand, and continuous evolvement and review of the strategy is key.
Ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and
optimised for search and user experience for online, social, video.
Engage content with inspiring ideas and use of respected tastemakers, and that content is produced in an innovative, accessible and stimulating environment.
Regularly liaise with other regions to ensure consistency of message.
Develop and oversee an integrated, continuous global content calendar, with alignment on publishing schedule and clear definition of ownership with other key stakeholders in the US and Europe.
Integrate and align content activities between traditional marketing and communication campaigns and new media campaigns
Ensure the content strategy team effectively partners with art portfolios, business groups, and bring guidance and expertise in balancing the commercial and creative objectives.
Achieve growth and development of Christie’s current client base whilst bringing new clients in via great content, measuring against set KPIs, industry measures and relevance to our business.
Conduct periodic competitive audits.
Develop appropriate communications plans, including digital and traditional media campaigns that are aligned with the strategic goals for APAC.
Ensure the highest level of media coverage and excellent brand positioning for Christie’s in Asia Pacific by working with the inhouse Communications team and affiliated freelancers and agencies.
Lead the APAC team in working with departments in the region as well as with international press teams to promote company activities globally including live, online and private sales platforms, as well as promoting the expertise within the company.
Advise relevant internal stakeholders on matters relating to reputation and issues management proactively, including communications with the Asia Pacific media and opinion formers.
Develop long term relationships with key media and opinion formers across the APAC art market.
Leverage the breadth of the wider team (editorial, video, social media and comms) and work alongside marketing colleagues to give media access to high quality content across platforms.
Partner proactively with Content & Communications colleagues in other regions and regularly share latest information, knowledge and best-practices
Develop and execute the highest level of consistent, accurate and pro-active coverage across traditional and digital platforms/outlets.
Team Leadership and Management
Measure the achievement of specific objectives as set out with Head of Marketing and Communications APAC and Regional President, as an integral part of agreed marketing campaign, meeting business objectives and to utilise an evidence-based approach in developing future approaches.
Ensure regional consistency with company-wide corporate messaging and strategy.
Account management of external agencies / freelancers when appropriate.
Take part in pitches and events to bring in new clients and business as needed
Work closely with colleagues in the US and Europe, ensuring worldwide coverage of activities and promotion of expertise
Develop and coach the team to success, foster talent by setting clear objectives and providing need support and guidance
Manage the day-to-day activities of the team including recruitment, training & development, resource deployment, performance management, department P&L and cost-effective decision-making
Degree holder in Communications, Media, Marketing or related disciplines.
Minimum 6+ years of proven success in creating social content, media storytelling and communications plans, preferably within art, culture, luxury industries. With minimum 2 years in managerial role.
Detail-oriented and ability to identify priorities and create a streamlined, efficient team to meet the business need.
A natural collaborator, able to partner effectively with multiple stakeholders
Excellent written, presentation and communication skills in English, Chinese and Mandarin
