Job Purpose
The HR Director, Hong Kong and Macau will demonstrate strong HR partnership & leadership, deliver high quality HR interventions across a range of activities/processes to enable leaders and employees to deliver the IPTc priorities.
This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:
Areas of Responsibility
Drive key HR initiatives and provide HR business partnership support in organization, talent and leadership development; Lead the culture change and organization transformation in alignment with the strategy across Pharma business units
Uphold the country responsibilities for both Pharma and Consumer in full spectrum of HR delivery, which includes company policy development/ update, compensation, benefit, HR services and payroll oversight, HR risk and management monitoring, ER counselling, etc. by closely partnering with the shared-service team/ specialist team
Represent Human Resources Department to participate the Hong Kong/ Macao Country Executive Board and lead discussion for HR topics; participate in China/ Hong Kong HR Council
Represent Human Resources Department for GSK Hong Kong presence with external stakeholders, industry association, media and government departments
Being part of wider-scope projects such as Enterprise-wide Initiatives, Culture Initiatives, Mergers, Acquisitions and Disposals, HR Community Initiatives, Professional Development initiatives
Expected Delivery
Partnering with business for both the initiatives and delivery that contribute to the Innovation, Performance, Trust and Culture of our business, organization and people. This will include organization planning & design, performance management, talent acquisition, development and succession planning, leadership development and employee capability, etc.
Partner with regional/ global HR team on HR interventions/ transformation initiatives that require a high level of sensitivity, complexity or expertise
Cultivate a Performance and Purpose driven culture and build a high performing and diverse team; support the roll out of Performance with Choice
Facilitate the Modern Employer journey and nourish the employee engagement Country Duty Holder
Effectiveness and efficiency of the HR services and operations & specialist expertise delivered with quality and employee satisfaction
Mitigate the employment risk, HR risk and data privacy
GSK reputation and employer proposition
Impact & Risk
Foster robust employee relations, mitigate the legal risk and protect GSK reputation: provide guidance to line managers around ER issues; facilitate workforce restructurings, merge and acquisition
Creating Business Solutions
Standardize HR processes, where appropriate, and drive towards global standardization of HR processes across businesses
Diagnose and solve complex issues across a wide range of HR subject areas and across multiple businesses, directing more routine problem solving to be handled by the HR Transactional Services Hub
Influence & Communication
The HR Head must have the credibility to influence stakeholders at all levels within the organization by providing coaching and constructive feedback; partner closely with the Specialists/ Shared-service team to ensure HR resolution/ services are designed and delivered which can be effectively deployed across the businesses.
Employ strong persuasive and engagement skills and role-model to establish new ways of working/ behavior change with employees and with leaders; ensure changes are fully communicated and embedded
Culture Development:
Understand the broader GSK and Pharma business agenda, purpose and behaviors and be able to translate it into the desired culture in an engaging, inclusive way. Reinforces through personal leadership, effective teamwork and use of the GSK Modern Employer Frameworks. Understands and uses the analytics from GSK engagement surveys to diagnose the environment and influences leaders to develop and enhance engagement strategies. Develops leaders’ capability to understand how they impact and shift the culture. Ensures they are creating a diverse and inclusive environment.
Succession planning and Talent Management
Lead the talent management strategy across GSK Hongkong by ensuring close collaboration with leaders to develop and retain top talent. Understand and coach leaders to identify, manage and retain strong and diverse talent. Coach leaders to effectively and intentionally lead succession planning processes and identify, develop and retain employees to reach their full potential. Effectively leads the succession planning and talent management to the overall workforce strategy and business ambition.
Leading and Delivering Change
Understand the current and future needs of the business and use data and systemic thinking to diagnose key areas/opportunities for change while using tools and processes to formulate integrated solutions designed to help employees embrace and embed change in order to achieve the desired business outcomes. Lead and drive the effective delivery of diverse change projects in support of the business’s strategic agenda. Champion and influence senior leaders to effectively lead change.

Partner with the business to identify opportunities within their lines to improve organization effectiveness. Identify and improve how an organization channels resources, defines structure, jobs and work processes, motivates performance and shapes the patterns of informal interactions and relationships as a key enabler of business strategy. Use data and analytical tools to understand the business, identify opportunities for improvement, assess potential solutions and monitor achievement of benefits. Align management practices and structures to drive performance and develops leaders’ ability to perform organization design in a forever changing world.

Why You?
Bachelor Degree, Master Degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration is preferred
Demonstrated track record in an HR experience for 15 years with at least 5 years in a leadership role from a high-matrix set-up of MNC or large-scale organization
Solid HR expertise with a good mix of previous experience in at least 2 to 3 HR discipline areas (i.e. talent, development and/ or reward) and HR business partner roles; and/or previously a full-function HR role
Experience to partner and leverage shared-service team remotely
Sound understanding and knowledge of Hong Kong talent and employment landscape
Experience of leading and delivering change and use of recognized change management methodologies
Ability to effectively coach and influence all levels of leaders & employees across various business units in the organization and diagnosis HR requirements
Resilient, agile, adaptable to changes
Proven project management expertise
Experience of working on cross-business or cross-functional projects
Good analytical skills and evidence of use of metrics to drive process improvement
