Your key responsibilities:

Desk Analyst roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Analysis-related tasks:

  • Fully understand the credit under analysis along with all related regulatory/legal issues and risks involved
  • Take primary ownership for the credit assessment and act as interface between Sourcing, Execution, Trading & Sales, and Credit Risk Management
  • Identify profitable business opportunities e.g. under/overvalued companies
  • Produce complete and accurate analysis using approved excel templates (1 Pagers) (and updated regularly)
  • Present Risk 1 Pagers at internal risk meetings
  • Fully understand legal and regulatory risk and the implication of the company’s jurisdiction on creditors/stakeholders interests
  • Share information with other Desk Analysts on relevant names within the same industry / client / legal regime

Trading related tasks:

  • Assist Sourcers to exchange desk views with existing lenders/creditors
  • Agree a strategy for approaching clients and salespersons with the Risk Manager
  • Help Traders manage the risk on the book by providing timely and accurate credit information
  • Attend to credit limit approval correspondence and discussions with MRM/CRM
  • Send email/call report to respective traders and salesperson after each client call summarizing topics discussed and client views
  • Update Trader/Sales/Sourcers in the morning meeting on your credits (e.g. credit updates, new business ideas, conversations with accounts)
  • Provide Desk Execution and Desk Operational/Risk Management with a summary of any corporate actions / voting events
  • Work with sourcing to develop list of creditors for each credit

Your skills and experience:

  • At least 4-5 years of credit analysis experience, preferable with a focus on distressed debt / illiquid credit (alternatively, strong and relevant leverage finance or capital markets advisory experience will be considered)
  • Strong analytical skill set with sound accounting and financial modelling understanding
  • Experience dealing with senior finance executives of external counter parties especially large corporations/issuers and institutional investors like hedge funds and/or banks
  • University degree, preferably with a focus on finance, accounting, and/or engineering
  • English fluency required, additional languages a plus
