CityU is the first University in the region to offer a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM), with the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University as our international partner. ÂThe 6-year BVM, established in 2017, has received provisional accreditation from the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council Inc (AVBC).
The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS) was established in 2020 in the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC) at CityU. ÂThe Department has a clear vision to be Asia's preeminent body advancing veterinary clinical science in response to evolving societal needs. ÂOur strategic goals include attracting world-class clinical faculty to secure full accreditation of the BVM with AVBC and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), establishing Hong Kong's first academic post-graduate veterinary residency-training programmes, establishing an outstanding clinical research environment to deliver outcomes that benefit all species, and fostering strong community engagement through excellent clinical service and outreach.

The appointee will actively contribute to the missions of VCS to train highly professional veterinary clinicians, to advance animal health through cutting-edge clinical research and to engage with and support the local community.Â The appointee will teach across the BVM curriculum to ensure that students can attain Day 1 competences by integrating and applying knowledge, skills and professional attitudes.Â The appointee will provide didactic and laboratory teaching.Â They will also support students on clinical rotations which begin in 2022.Â The appointee will take up administrative work and other duties to facilitate the development of the College and its Departments as a whole.Â Involvement in clinical research is supported and encouraged. The appointee shall possess a veterinary qualification recognized for registration as a veterinary surgeon in Hong Kong with degrees in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc), or equivalent in all levels of appointments. ÂBoard certification (European, Australian/New Zealand, American, or equivalent Boards) in the relevant discipline is required for appointment at Clinical Associate Professor level or above. ÂFor Clinical Assistant Professor, credentials for Board certification should be completed, or near completion.Â In some cases, a PhD with advanced training in the relevant clinical discipline may be considered as equivalent to board certification.Â Experience in clinical teaching, service and research is required.Â A PhD is preferred for clinical track and essential for tenure track.
