During the Hong Kong Co-op Programme, which lasts for six months, your work placement will challenge you to use your talents and academic knowledge to add value to the bank and improve your professional and personal skills. You will receive practical training to complement your academic studies, embedding our values while growing your career. You will benefit from building your skills and banking knowledge in a real working environment, and will be provided opportunities to take on responsibilities in a selection of interesting projects.

Hong Kong Co-op Programme opportunities are available in the following business areas:

  • Wealth and Personal Banking (Including Customer Value, Wealth, Chief Operating Office, Contact Centre Business, Card, Digital etc.)
  • Our new global business which serve millions of customers worldwide, ranging from personal banking individuals and families, through to business owners, investors and ultra-high-net-worth individuals. We provide products and services such as bank accounts, credit cards, personal loans, mortgages and wealth management, that best suit our customers’ needs.

  • Insurance (Including Operations, Chief Operating Office, Governance, Engagement, etc.)
  • A world-class institution where you can specialize in Insurance but enjoy the advantages that come with being part of a leading global bank. As one of the leading life insurers in Hong Kong, our team of experts help deliver on these promises by providing a wide range of insurance products and services to our customers across Asia-Pacific.

  • Commercial Banking  (Including Chief Operating Office, Business Banking, etc.)
  • We provide businesses with banking services in both home markets and overseas. These include trade and receivables finance, global liquidity and cash management, multi-currency accounts, commercial cards, overdrafts, working capital finance, term loans and syndicated, leveraged, acquisition and project finance.

  • Global Functions (Including Assurance, Regulatory, Operations management, etc.)
  • It plays a vital role in supporting the bank’s Global Businesses which includes areas from Risk, Compliance, Audit to Operations.


    To be eligible for a place in the programme, you must be an undergraduate student studying in any discipline with availability to work full time through July to December 2021. Candidates with a good academic standing of at least second-class honors degree or above are preferred.

    You must possess:

  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Additional computer skills in Excel (Macro), Access and Projects, and Chinese typing skills would be advantageous
  • Fluency in English (Cantonese or Mandarin would be advantageous)
  • The legal right to work in Hong Kong
