As the Business Development lead for Interconnection services in APAC, you will be responsible for the continued growth of this business area. To do this, you will design and deliver strategies to ensure that Equinix onboards key ecosystem participants which have a ‘magnetic’ effect on attracting other ecosystem participants; and you will plan how to increase the uptake of interconnection services across the whole of Equinix’s customer base. The ecosystem participants in scope span every industry, but with a particularly strong focus on network service providers, cloud & IT service providers, and digital content producers.

Be measured on the growth of Equinix interconnection revenues in APAC
Develop strategies to raise uptake of Equinix’s interconnection services
Lead business development programs focused on strategic metros & products
Peering community leadership
Be an ambassador for Equinix within the APAC Internet Peering community
Build & leverage a strong personal network within the community
Plan and deliver events & communications to engage the community
Contribute thought leadership to grow Equinix’s standing in the community
Lead the development of tooling systems giving insight into Equinix’s interconnection portfolio performance
Provide management reporting on interconnection portfolio performance
Provide sales teams with actionable insights on how to develop interconnection opportunities with specific customers
Export best practices in Interconnection business development from APAC into other Equinix regions, and import best practices from those regions
Lead a direct team to deliver the support services described above
Develop strong, collaborative relationships with a widespread, cross-functional team to drive the overall business – particularly sales (country sales, interconnection sales, channel sales, network sales) and marketing
Be a key leader within the overall APAC BD team
Collaborate with Interconnection teams in EMEA, Americas, and Global BD.
Expected capabilities and attributes
Technical expertise: strong understanding of networking technologies, IT infrastructure, and Internet Peering infrastructures
Commercially minded: able to accurately judge what actions will drive most value for Equinix’s interconnection business and focus on them; able to understand the commercial drivers and business cases of other players in the peering ecosystem
Excellent ability to build relationships: across the external industry community, with direct reports, and cross-functional teams spread regionally and globally
A strong existing network: within the APAC peering community, with an understanding of the different players involved and their respective motivations
Excited to travel: as necessary for industry events and other business development opportunities
A positive mindset: in line with Equinix’s values (the Magic of Equinix)
