We are looking for aresearcher interested in molecular microbiology/microbial ecology toparticipate in microbiome research. Our work primarily focuses on interactionsbetween microorganisms, their hosts and the environment, with a goal tounderstand how such processes shape microbial communities and the environment.
Applicants should have aMaster’s degree, preferably in Biological Sciences, Microbiology ormedicine-related disciplines (for Research Assistant); OR a relevant BSc degree(for Junior Research Assistant). Work experience in research laboratories,proficiency in microbiology and molecular biology techniques such as samplecollection and preservation, bacterial culture, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR,sequencing, animal work, etc. will be advantageous.
The appointee will workat the Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin. Duties include (a) conducting literaturereview; (b) performing sample collection and processing, (c) culturing bacteriafrom samples, (d) performing experiments, data collection; and (e) managingsample inventory and laboratory records.
Appointment will initiallybe made on contract basis for one year, renewable subject to good performanceand mutual agreement.
