In large scale programs, the scope of work to be delivered is often wide and complicated. Program Management can approach this by dividing the scope up into aligned packages of work. Each package of work is allocated to a Workstream to ensure appropriate focus and capability to complete the end-to-end delivery. Workstreams can run concurrently and may even have inter-dependencies.
This role will responsible for the overall initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of a workstream.
They are usually a senior project manager who ultimately reports to the Program Manager. They manage the team of resources allocated to the workstream which may include other project managers.
