The Role

As the Team Head of Operational & Market Risk

Key Accountabilities

  • Reporting to CRO to manage Operational Risk and Firmwide Risk
  • Supervise and provide guidance to the team in performing proper and adequate risk management function
  • Act as second line of defense for operational risk and firmwide risk. Ensure risk framework in place, i.e. risk identifying, reviewing, mitigating, reporting etc.
  • Be Operational Risk Committee Chairman and carry out regular meeting to oversight operational and firmwide risk
  • Being Board Risk Committee Secretary to make sure governance and compliance of committee ToR
  • Closely work with Compliance, follow up compliance review, performing gap analysis of new regulatory requirement
  • Closely work with Internal Audit, follow up audit points, manage progress and updates and report to CRO/Committee the latest progress
  • Closely work with PB front office, familiar with front office operations, control, procedure and advise to CRO/FO senior management any potential control issue
  • Closely work with Legal and COO office, follow up any issues related and report to CRO/FO, e.g. Complaints, Legal action related to problem Loan
  • Review RMD policy and ensure regular review and governance approval in place. Ensure policy are updated and comply with HKMA SPM requirement
  • Review and oversight operational risk incident report, review root cause analyses, identify systematic risk, recommend improvements to prevent recurrence
  • Review KRIs so that proper risk indicators and thresholds are applied, oversight KRIs exercise are properly handled by respective stakeholders
  • Review and oversight Risk Control and Self Assessment process are properly carried out to identify any control/policy issue, make sure policy control effectiveness and appropriate policy are reviewed
  • Act as coordinator of RMD to manage rectification progress or any other risk management related actions requested by internal/external audit, HKMA observations etc
  • Such other duties as shall be directed by your superiors from time to time

Skills & Experience

  • Master’s degree or higher in Risk Management, Quantitative Finance or related discipline preferred
  • At least 10 years working experience in finance or banking field within which at least 5 years in risk management related area
  • Experience in Private banking is preferred
  • Knowledge of operational risk management and Firmwide Risk Management
  • With detailed and analytical mindset with problem solving
  • Strong organizational and written communications skills, analytical mindset with problem solving, research and follow up skills
  • Good team player with supervisory and problem solving skill
