Applications are invited to fill the above temporary training vacancies tentatively around September 2021.
Entry Requirements: (I) An acceptable degree in the relevant discipline from a Hong Kong university or equivalent (obtained in 2020 or after), or other non-degree qualifications acceptable to the relevant professional institutions (obtained in October 2019 or after) as follows: a degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or a qualification, which satisfies the academic requirements for corporate membership of the Environmental discipline of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and for admission into the HKIE Training Scheme “A” in the Environmental discipline; and (II) Be a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of engagement unless specified otherwise.
Note: (i) Applicants who have obtained a relevant degree/qualification before the date mentioned in (I) of “Entry Requirements” and are pursuing or have just obtained in 2020 or after another degree on a related subject on a full-time basis may also be considered, provided that the break between completion of the first relevant degree/qualification and commencement of the related degree is not more than 18 months. If an applicant has pursued more than one related degrees, the aggregate period of breaks between the degrees should also not be more than 18 months. (ii) Applicants sitting their final examinations, or the final part(s) of relevant examinations of professional institutions in the summer of 2021 may also apply. If selected, their engagement will be subject to their acquiring the requisite academic qualification not later than 30 September 2021. (iii) Applicants who are receiving or have ever received training under the Training Scheme “A” of the HKIE will not be considered. Successful applicants will be required to make a declaration to that effect.
Training: The training vacancies are temporary posts. Graduate trainees are not civil servants and are not engaged on civil service terms and conditions. Successful candidates will receive practical training under professional guidance for meeting the training requirements of the HKIE. The training period is three years. On satisfactory completion of the training, suitable engineering graduate trainees engaged by the Environmental Protection Department will be offered further engagement for a period of 12 months. There is no guarantee for further engagement in the Government after completion of the above training/post-training engagement.
Training Honorarium: The current honorarium on entry is $23,010 per month. The above amount of honorarium and the terms of engagement are subject to changes at the time the offer of engagement is made. Graduate trainees are not civil servants and their training honoraria are independent of the civil service pay.

The form can also be downloaded from the website of the Civil Service Bureau (http://www.csb.gov.hk). To avoid delayed or unsuccessful delivery of applications by post, please ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage has been affixed before posting. Mail items bearing insufficient postage will not be delivered to this Department and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the Hongkong Post, where appropriate. Each application should be accompanied by: (a) a supplementary letter giving a brief account of past relevant training/experience and course projects; (b) a copy each of all official transcripts showing the results of all examinations taken at universities or other examinations leading to the award of a qualification recognised by the relevant professional institution; (c) a copy of the degree certificate if acquired; (d) a list of subjects, and their respective weighting, studied in the final year of the degree course (only required for applicants who are studying in the final year of their degree courses); and (e) a copy of the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination, certificate(s) of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination and/or other public English language examinations (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, GCE, GCSE, HKSARG Common Recruitment Examination, etc.) showing the results achieved in English language in such examinations.
Note: (i) Applications which are late, incomplete/without the relevant supporting documents, and/or submitted by fax/email may not be considered. Completed application form together with all supporting documents should reach the enquiry address not later than the closing date for application. (ii) Copies of documents mentioned in (b), (c) and (d) of “How to Apply” may be passed to the relevant professional institution for the purpose of confirming whether or not the qualification satisfies the academic requirements for corporate membership/admission into the professional examination/training scheme of the institution concerned. (iii) Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the recruiting department may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend recruitment examination and/or interview. (iv) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to any further shortlisting criteria.
